LORNE AVENUE SCHOOL COMMUNITY HUB DOCUMENT

INTRODUCTION

Lorne Avenue School, located in the Old East Village, not only has a long history in the community but one that includes it functioning as a ‘community school’ or ‘neighbourhood hub’ for many years. Recent declining enrolments across Ontario have made it necessary for us to re-think how Lorne Ave. will continue to meet the challenges facing itsstudents, the community and the TVDSB. This document is presented as an exploration of what the future Lorne Avenue School could look like. It will outline our vision for the future, pertinent history, official support for the school as a ‘hub’, a discussion of the ‘hub’ concept, a thematic summary of our “community conversations”, and recommendations for how we move forward.
